Day 2 - Rome

Today we will have a city tour of the capital of Italy and one of the oldest and most influential cities in Western civilization. The Colosseum, the Roman forums, the squares and fountains of the center, the great life of the city. We finish in St. Peter’s in the Vatican, an independent state within the city of Rome and the center of the Catholic Church. You can visit the basilica and the museums.
In the evening we include a transfer to Trastévere, a lively neighborhood known for its typical small restaurants.

Day 3 - Rome -Termoli -Monte SantAngelo -Trani -Bari

Today we travel towards the Adriatic Sea, the landscapes of the Apennine Mountain range are magnificent. TERMOLI, a charming city by the sea whose beach is dominated by the walled old town and where its 13th century castle and Romanesque cathedral stand out. Time for lunch and a walk. We continue towards MONTE SANT´ANGELO, a world heritage site and a place of pilgrimage throughout history, its Romanesque sanctuary located in a cave guarding tombs since the 6th century. Have a walk through the medieval center of the town. We continue to TRANI, “the pearl of the Adriatic”, a magnificent city that embraces the sea and displays its pink Romanesque cathedral. Continuation to BARI, accommodation.

Day 4 - Bari -Brindisi -Lecce -Taranto -Brindisi

After breakfast we have time for a walk through the old town of BARI, a port city inhabited since before Roman times. Its narrow streets, its churches, its lively life make it a very special city. We later continue to BRINDISI, a walled port city, where you can take a pleasant walk along the sea, admire the impressive Roman column and stroll through its old quarter. Our next stop is LECCE, a charming city known for its impressive baroque architecture, which has earned it the nickname "Florence of the South". The historic center is filled with beautifully ornate baroque buildings and churches. Time for a walk and lunch. In the afternoon we visit TARANTO, a vibrant city, an image of southern Italy (in its customs, life, people, also in a certain abandonment), with its great Aragonese castle, its old quarter and its cathedral. We return to BRINDISI at the end of the day, accommodation.

Day 5 - Brindisi -Alberobello -Matera -Naples

Today we will visit two spectacular and authentic towns. ALBEROBELLO, charming town famous for its unique conical-shaped houses known as "trulli". These unique structures, with their stacked stone roofs, are a World Heritage Site and are considered an outstanding example of Italian rural architecture. After that we continue to MATERA, located in the Basilicata region, known for its ancient historic center with its "Sassi di Matera", a complex of ancient houses and buildings carved into the rock that date back thousands of years. It is a World Heritage Site and is one of the oldest continuously inhabited human settlements in the world. Time for a walk and lunch. In the afternoon we continue through Basilicata and Campania, admiring their beautiful mountain landscapes. NAPLES, arrival in the evening. Free time afterwards.

Naples -Capri -Pompeii -Rome

Day 6 - Naples -Capri -Pompeii -Rome

We take a ferry to CAPRI, after a 45-minute crossing we arrive at this island famous for its natural beauty and luxurious lifestyle. If you’d like to, you can take a boat to the White Grotto or the cable car to the Capri city and visit the gardens of Augustus with panoramic views. We return to NAPLES, where you will have time for a walk and lunch. In the afternoon we will visit POMPEII (admission and visit with a local guide included), the prosperous city reduced to ashes and rubble when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. We will continue to ROME, arrival at the end of the day.

Day 7 - Rome -Pisa -Santa Margherita de Ligure - Portofino - Genoa

We travel to PISA, where we include a train from the parking lot to the monumental precinct, Piazza dei Miracoli, where the famous Leaning Tower is located. Free time for lunch. After lunch, we will travel to SANTA MARGHERITA DE LIGURE, where we will take the boat to PORTOFINO, one of the most exclusive places in Europe. There, you will have the chance of walking along the sea and enjoying your free time. Then, we will continue to GENOA. Its downtown recalls its history as a thriving republic in the Middle Ages.

Note: Sometimes, due to weather conditions, the boat to Portofino is not operating in winter. In these cases, more free time will be offered in Santa Margherita. If you wish, you can reach Portofino by public microbus (bear in mind that the quality of the service is quite unsatisfactory and the waiting times may be long).

Day 8 - Genoa -San Giulio -Milan -Verona

Today, we discover one of Europe’s most beautiful landscapes: the Italian lakes, which lay in the valleys of the Alps. We will travel to LAKE ORTA. In ORTA DE SAN GIULIO, we will find a medieval city which has been preserved intact. We will include a train trip to the center of the medieval village and a boat to the SAN GIULIO ISLAND, which is home to a monastery. After that, we will proceed to MILAN, the main financial and economic center of Italy. We will have free time to visit the downtown, where we will visit Milan’s renowned cathedral and have lunch. Then, we will continue our trip along the Po Valley to VERONA. Arrival and free time for dinner.

Verona -Venice

Day 9 - Verona -Venice

In VERONA, we will have free time to explore the city of Romeo and Juliette. We will continue to VENICE; the arrival is expected at around 12h. We will include the transfer by boat to St. Mark’s Square, where we will be led by a local guide in a walking visit through the canals. You will be also able to admire the Murano glasswork. Free time for lunch; don’t miss your chance to ride one of the famous gondolas. Lodging in the Mestre area or nearby.

Venice -Florence

Day 10 - Venice -Florence

After crossing the beautiful landscapes of the Apennines, we arrive at FLORENCE. We head directly for the Piazzale Michelangelo, which offers an amazing view of the city. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, we include a visit to the downtown with a local guide: Ponte Vecchio, Duomo, Piazza della Signoria. This city is a genuine open-air museum. Free time.

Day 11 - Florence -Siena -Assisi-Rome

We travel to SIENA, where we will have the chance to see the stunning Piazza del Palio and its beautiful cathedral. We then continue to ASSISI, where we include the visit to the Basilica with a local guide or a Franciscan monk. Free time for lunch. We will then continue to Rome.
