We stayed during ongoing renovations so we could hear the construction during the day and the room smelled of fresh paint. However, the room was nice and the free breakfast in the morning was a big plus. Ms. Williams, who attended to the breakfast area, was very friendly and a pleasure to talk to. The front desk persons were also friendly and accommodating. Would stay here again.

I usually don't do reviews until the end of my stay, but this is far too great of an experience not to share right now. We checked in about 2 am, got settled around 330 and went to sleep on a very comfortable bed. I woke up at 830 and breakfast is over at 9. We made it downstairs in time to have the best breakfast outside of my kitchen. Ms Williams' grits and eggs needed absolutely nothing. They were seasoned good enough for me to break protocol and review her now. She had great conversation and information about the area. If you're in the Columbia area make sure you stop by during the week and check her out.

I selected this hotel because my colleagues chose this hotel for our business trip, but I wish I would have chosen a neighboring hotel. The property is clearly very old - the furniture, the carpets, the decor are all way outdated. None of the hard surfaces in the room were clean as I did my usual wipe down when checking into hotels. My allergies acted up overnight so I'm sure the room was filled with dust. The positive side were the staff. Everyone at the front desk and the woman that worked the breakfast area were pleasant. I'm glad I only had to stay for one night. Perhaps it'll be better once renovations are complete.

Once I made the reservation, I was charged by 'AdvancedPurchases'. When I called, they advised that when I checked out, there would be no charge for the room. Guess what?? The hotel itself did charge me. This was in March. It is now October and I am still fighting with the hotel to get a refund. The Manager and the Accounting staff say the amount was refunded. I can show them my cc account and no refund was received. I've spoken to Hilton Corporate and even they keep pointing me back to the hotel staff. All they say is that it was done. No further investigation as to why or how this happened. There are too many other hotels out there. They've lost my business for good.

The hotel is in the mist of a much needed renovation. However that should not hinder the cleanliness of the remaining open part of the hotel. The elevator and it's entrance was not clean The kitchen in my room had roaches and the toilet seat was cracked (bacteria) Housekeeping sprayed but the problem remained. They did not have another room available. I checked out early. The staff, Monique, including the lady managing the kitchen were very pleasant.
