“The Eureka Inn emerges from the crisscrossed blocks of downtown as a testament to history. We were lucky enough to stay in fall of 2022, the year that marks the 100th anniversary of this building that has housed Sir Winston Churchill and Ronald Reagan. Along the walls of the ornate first-floor balcony, portraits of royalty (including the Hollywood variety) sparkle in gilded frames. The fireplace beckons you to sit in one of the many deep, plush velveteen lounge chairs and sofas. And to tie it all into the present day, a viewing of 'An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn' streamed in the comfort of an immaculately white-sheeted, four-poster bed will make you long for a list of Scotland-inspired specialty cocktails in the downstairs bar and restaurant. The location is a stone's throw from the Eureka boardwalk (providing access to a ferry boat with the smallest bar in California), the variegated and larger-than-life artwork in the Lost Coast Brewery Taproom (give the Wisconsin IPA a go), and charming Victorian buildings on all sides (that especially sparkle in afternoon sunlight). That is, if you can bring yourself to leave the Elizabethan wonders within.”

“If you like old stuff you will love this place. It's like a museum. If you like wifi, floors that don't slant, cable tv and elevators - you will love it here. We had to walk up 4 flights of stairs. The elevator was "out of service" and we were told it would be. I suspect it hasn't worked in years and they just tell everyone that. It's an ADA violation. Every building has to have an working elevator if it is over 2 stories. I will be reporting it.”
