“Hotel is in need of major upgrades and updates. The room was spacious, but furnishings are circa 1970s and early 1980s. The layout of the bathrooms made it crowded with tiny vanity hovering right next to the toilet (which didn't flush very well at all). Bathroom had a sulfur or foul odor that never went away, and old style tub/shower with shower curtains on 2 sides of the tub made certain that water ended up on the polished marble floor outside the tub no matter how carefully closed the shower curtains were. There was no mini fridge, hair dryer that barely dried my very short hair in a reasonable amount of time. Linens were rough and in desperate need of fabric softener or just replacement. And, bed was not very comfortable, with tiny pillows more consistent with an inexpensive motel. Most of the hotels amenities or services, like in room dining or their bar/lounge or executive level, or any extras, are currently closed or not available "due to covid-19". They do not provide daily maid service unless requested, and must also request fresh towels when needed. We upgraded to a lake-view King room, which had a decent view of the lake, but through 2 smaller, old windows partially covered in dated drapes and old shades. Naturally the age of the building poses a variety of challenges, and eliminates the possibility of floor to ceiling windows and modern design elements, but the appeal of the old building and classic design could certainly be preserved, enhanced and upgraded to be competitive and in line with most of the other nearby hotels..... especially at $322/night for a King room to accommodate 2 people. In it's current state, and with services currently offered, the best thing it has going for it is the location, but then again, so do many other hotels within a couple blocks.”
